It’s thin

by Livia Iacolare on January 16, 2008

Does it really matter when it costs $1799, has an iPod HD, one USB port, no CD/DVD and no Ethernet and it’s supposed to be designed for mobile life?

That old familiar smell

by Livia Iacolare on January 13, 2008

Everytime I go to Roma I stay in this big house. They are good friends of mine and they share everything. They’re all from Napoli, just like me. When I’m here I feel at home because I can recognize familiar smells. I feel at home anywhere I recognize a familiar smell.

And after a beautiful evening spent watching an old movie in silence with them, with the sound of the heavy rain knocking at the windows, inebriated by exotic flavors and some good wine, I must admit that I am happy. It’s that simple.

The only productivity rule that really works

by Livia Iacolare on January 10, 2008

I don’t like sites that tell me how I can spend my time without wasting it. Mostly because what they consider to be “valuable” has absolutely no value at all to me. All these sites are artfully crafted to make you feel like a retarded, no matter what.

Their editors usually bomb you with loads of bulleted lists, videos, reviews of productivity tools, audio podcasts, PowerPoint presentations and guides all of which are specifically made to make sure you waste even more time in front of your computer.

There is only one thing you can do in order to keep yourself productive: switch off the modem.

People who want to be good at all costs

by Livia Iacolare on January 8, 2008

I know, maybe it’s my fault, but I can’t stand them. I am a very diplomatic person and everyone who knows me is aware of that. I think I could solve the Israeli-Palestine conflict in a couple of weeks (my solution would be sending the Israeli people to Maldives every six months on the expenses of Palestinians, and vice versa… but I won’t share too much with you guys, sorry). That’s how diplomatic I am.

Anyway, back to the topic: I don’t like people who want to be nice to everyone, pretending that they don’t hate anybody and their mission is to fight evil people. The Web is an extension of social life and I see that people on the Web tend to be generally more hypocrite than people outside of the Web. They want to build a better world where everybody has conversations with Twitter friends, animals and vegetables as if they lived in fancy Arcadia. And it makes me want to be evil.
