The fuss about Flickr Video

Flickr introduced support for videos and many of its users are going nuts. They claim the ancestral spirit of Flickr has been violated, since it was meant to be a site for photographers only. I heard some people deleted their Flickr accounts just because of videos. Are you kidding me?
I’ve asked some of my friends on Flickr (most of them are professional photographers) whether they would move to another service because of the new features. They all answered that they don’t give a damn about videos because Flickr is the best site around for photos and pros are all on it. And guess what, I believe they are right.
Moreover, I think videos could be very useful to photographers; they might use them to explain certain things about their photos, interview a model, show how they built up a set.
If you don’t like videos on Flickr simply don’t do them and stop the fuss.
1 Girl 1 Cup
Don’t know what you think, but the thought of removing this thing scares me more than the thought of putting it inside.
Twitter for spam. I mean, sex
The funny thing about this Web 2.0 is that everybody thinks that everybody wants to have conversations around any topic. So now they’ve created Boobik? which has been labeled the “Twitter for sex”. And there are people who actually believe that it will help users start conversations around sex.
Now, if you think about the fact that some people spend 15 minutes to upload porn videos on YouPorn just to get the chance to post their spam links in the description field (as this guy says in the comments to the TechCrunch post), you won’t be surprised if spammers will start colonizing Boobik? and make it a repository for crap. Which it already is, by the way.
Conversation (the social media way) does not exist in porn and, for what that matters, people who look for sex online go to real time chat rooms and plug in their webcams. Someone said that Boobik? wants to appeal users that are not geeky. I am not sure about that; I believe that only those people who already know Twitter will give a chance to Boobik? and that’s just because it’s “Twitter for sex”.
Here’s my conclusion: Boobik? will attract geeks who already know Twitter and will be used to post quick messages such as “anybody wants to have sex in East London?”. Also, since the service is new, there will be mostly fake accounts created to stimulate the… conversation, yep.
Anyway, it’s just a funny way to ride the Twitter wave. Though not as smart as Twatter.
It’s thin
Does it really matter when it costs $1799, has an iPod HD, one USB port, no CD/DVD and no Ethernet and it’s supposed to be designed for mobile life?
That old familiar smell
Everytime I go to Roma I stay in this big house. They are good friends of mine and they share everything. They’re all from Napoli, just like me. When I’m here I feel at home because I can recognize familiar smells. I feel at home anywhere I recognize a familiar smell.
And after a beautiful evening spent watching an old movie in silence with them, with the sound of the heavy rain knocking at the windows, inebriated by exotic flavors and some good wine, I must admit that I am happy. It’s that simple.
