Luck
I remember I was 14 and I was going to school. It was a rainy day in Napoli and I had to refugee in a church to avoid getting completely wet. When I entered the church I found a playing card on a bench: it was a seven of coins (in Italy we call it “settebello”, which means “beautiful seven”).
It was a Neapolitan playing card produced by Modiano, beautifully crafted and clearly very old, since its deck had a very particular design. As much as I tried, I couldn’t take my eyes off of it and I was surprised to find such an item in a church.
Then I realized it had been probably left there by some guy who decided to quit playing cards. I picked it without hesitation and I put it inside my pocket. Starting from that moment, it has become some kind of a protection to me. I remember that one day a guy stole my purse (where I used to keep it) at school and I thought I had lost it forever. But that didn’t happen.
After two months my friend found the purse in a huge container filled with water and guess what: the card was still intact. All the beautiful things in my life are somehow associated with the number 7. Want an example? Last year I graduated on December 7th, I was the 7th on the list and I got 7 points by the board of examiners. Maybe it’s just a casuality, but I think that there is a logic in everything. So, in my case my luck charm also contains my lucky number.
What about you? Do you have any?
Make money with your blog: what Darren Rowse didn’t tell you
It’s easy to start a blog but if you have no talent you will never make money out of it. Sorry, but this is how it goes in this world. You can subscribe to all the best sites that share blogging tips but if you have no talent your situation won’t change.
If nobody cares about what you think and write you will always be a loser, and there’s no St. Darren Rowse who can save you. Once you get this simple thing you will have a better life, I promise you.
This is not just about blogging, it’s about your life. Cultivate yourself, find out what you like, read books, trash your TV, change your partner more often, walk away from that computer already.
Don’t trust people who want to teach you how to become like them and try to keep you with them.
Trust people who push you away and encourage you to follow your own path and face your demons.
Note: I mentioned Darren Rowse because he is the editor of ProBlogger, one of the most popular sites dedicated to blogging tips. I only used his name for editorial purposes and I respect his professionalism as well as his sensitivity.
My resolutions for 2008
Okay, I can’t make predictions, so here are my resolutions for the upcoming year.
They are seven, because I like this number and this number seems to like me.
Here they are:
1) Shoot more and better videos. With or without a plot.
2) Find a partner.
3) Move to Paris (seriously this time).
4) Find another partner.
5) Find a second job that can cover the expenses I have because of my first job.
6) Stop drinking alcohol whilst on a plane.
7) Follow my intuition.
Philippe Starck reviews the Amazon Kindle
This is hilarious. I remember watching this scene at LeWeb3 and I’m happy somebody filmed it. I was too busy laughing to do it.
